Why Are Summer Tyres Best For Dry Roads?

When summer hits, your regular winter tyres lose their effectiveness and you need to have a tyre that can bear high temperatures. Summer tyres are ideal for such weather conditions and also offer a steady grip on dry roads. If you don't know what summer tyres are and what their features are, read the following article.

What Are Summer Tyres

Summer tyres are best suited for the temperature above 7 degrees celsius. If you live in a colder place, do not drive your car in summer, Tyres Wembley, otherwise, you will risk your and your families safety.

These tyres are very popular and most car manufacturers attach summer tyres to their cars by default. They are a perfect combination of superior rubber compounds and shallow tread patterns.

Material Used In Summer Tyres

Summer tyres are made of a softer rubber compound than regular tyres. This makes them suitable to drive on dry as well as wet roads. Some filler such as silica or carbon black is added to summer tyres to make them strong and maintain their shape. Moreover,  natural rubber is used in summer tyres, which provides them with high-level performance.

Tread Of Summer Tyres

In regular tyres, tread patterns wear off very quickly and could not provide superior performance. However, summer tyres are laid with a special tread pattern that provides maximum traction and allows tyres to maintain a steady grip on both dry or wet roads.

But the tread of these tyres is not suitable for snowy roads, because when the temperature drops below seven degrees, its rubber compound becomes non-flexible.

Moreover, the tread depth of summer tyres is 1.6 millimetres, providing comfortable rides. In modern summer tyres,  tread indicators are provided. If your tyre’s tread wear and tread depth fall below 1.6mm, you should replace the tyre with new ones.

Storing Summer Tyres

When temperatures drop, you would be required to store your summer tyres. You must store your tyres well in favourable condition so that they do not get deformed or lose their quality. Following are the steps to store your tyres properly:
