The Most Innovative Things Happening To Tyre Reading

· Tyre

Technology - I know what you're thinking. Tyre pressure monitoring systems? No big deal. We've had those for years, haven't we?

The cars with tyre pressure monitoring systems in the early 2000s were nothing short of a "game-changer". Boasting features like the dashboard, pop up messages and visual icons to inform you of your current tyre pressures. It was so much more than just a few lines of text on a standard analogue gauge! But how far have they come since 2001? Well, let's find out.

The Zonal Tyre Tread Measurement

Unveiled at CES 2016 in Las Vegas by Continental - one of the world's leading tyre manufacturers. The zonal tyre tread measurement system is one of the most innovative things to happen to tyres. The idea behind this unique technology will likely change how you think about your tyres Maidstone forever. Fully unveiled at CES 2016, Continental's zonal tyre tread measurement system is an impressive piece of kit…

Continental's New Zonal Tyre Tread Measurement System How does it work?

Basically, instead of measuring the depth of your current tyre, or even your current three tyres like other systems on the market today, this remarkable new system measures each individual 'zones' of your Car Tyres Maidstone which includes both the centre and shoulders of the tyre. It works by using a series of six laser beams, coupled with a particular receiver. It measures signals reflected off the ground and then calculates tread depth.

Continental claim that this new system is up to 10 times more accurate than conventional systems. It is quicker and less expensive as well, thanks to skipping the need for sensors on each wheel. The best part though? This cutting-edge technology will debut in vehicles between late 2016 and early 2017.

Continental's zonal tyre tread measurement system can measure individual 'zones' within your tyres. It includes the centre and shoulders, making it more accurate and efficient than traditional systems.

This has brought us quite a few different options over the years including dedicated touchscreens, built-in smartphones / DVD players and even Google Glass type headsets! But how far will they go? Introducing 'digital tyre treads'?

Don't worry if you missed out on these amazing systems the first time around because they're bound to be making a comeback soon...
